I started my counselling journey by becoming a bereavement support volunteer at a local Hospice in 2000; this included face to face visits and telephone helpline support. In 2001 I commenced my counselling training and qualified in 2005.

I started my private practice in 2006 and have also worked in counselling agencies including:

• general counselling agency

• GP counselling service

• trauma rehabilitation agencies

• a hospice patient and family support service

• a women's centre

• EAP's (employee assistance programme)

• running a support group for ladies with breast cancer

Having qualified as a supervisor in 2010, I have experience in supervising individuals through my private practice and for local counselling agencies and well as supervising groups of counsellors and other support workers for a local hospice. I supervisee trainees as well as qualified counsellors and have helped people through the BACP accredition process.

I have been involved in health care the whole of my working career as I have a background in nursing and worked for 25 years as a hospice nurse.
